5 Ways Education Helps Protect the Environment

The world has problems. Nature is not well. We need to help the Earth. School can help us.

School helps nature in five ways:

1. School teaches children.

    Children learn about trees and water.

    They learn how to help nature.

    This starts when children are small.

    Schools help students do projects. Students plant trees outside. This is good for the future.

    Example: Children in the Dominican Republic learn to plant little trees in old plastic bottles. They learn to use old things again.

2. Groups help outside of school.

    People learn in special groups or meetings.

    Young people learn to work together.

    They learn to clean up plastic.

    Many groups help over 800,000 young people. This teaches them important life skills.

3. Big schools (Universities) help.

    Universities study nature. They fix nature on their land.

    More than 700 universities help nature. They make their places better for animals and plants.

4. Students talk about problems.

    Students look for nature problems. They write stories about them.

    They use phones and computers to tell people how to help.

    They are good helpers now.

   5. Schools must be safe.

    Bad weather stops school for many children.

    Heat, storms, and floods can stop learning.

    Schools must be safe from bad weather.

    Example: Schools in India put cool roofs on buildings. This makes the classrooms cooler. Learning can continue.
